HOLY LAND: THE LATIN PATRIARCHATE SETS UP THE MISSION FOR INDIAN CATHOLICS

A few days ago, Fouad Twal, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, set up the Mission for Indian Catholic Migrants living in the districts of the Patriarchate. It is a community of about 2000 devotees mostly living in the cities of Tel Aviv, Herzliya, Rameh, Tiberia and Haifa and mainly working as carers. As reported by the Patriarchate, so far they could go to Mass every Saturday in the Church of Saint Anthony in Jaffa, the Holy Sepulchre, the Church of the Holy Saviours in Jerusalem and the Church of Saint Joseph in Haifa. Now that one chaplain and two assistants have been appointed, all three Franciscan fathers from India, the ecclesial life of the Indian devotees will be better organised and taken care of. The new Mission with the care for the soul of the Indian Catholics adds up to the personal parishes, chantries and communities of migrants that already exist in the Holy Land, for English, German and French speaking devotees, for the African, Austrian, Filipino, Polish and Romanian communities.
