“Ecumenism and mission are inseparable; they are, sort of, twins”. This was said by card. Walter Kasper, president of the Papal Council for the Unity of Christians, who, this afternoon, sent a greeting “full of joy and gratitude” to all the devotees gathered in Rome in the Basilica of San Paolo fuori le Mura for the ending of the Week of Prayer for the Unity of Christians, that was celebrated with events of socialisation and prayer from January 18th to 25th and this year was focussed on “Of all this you are my witnesses”. “How can we reliably play – said card. Kasper – the role entrusted us by Our Lord, that is to announce unity, reconciliation and peace, unless we are reconciled and united ourselves? Therefore, mission and ecumenism are the most important tasks that today’s world and Christianity must be able to pursue”.
