TRAGEDIA DI SMOLENSK: IL CORDOGLIO DELLE COMUNITÀ EBRAICHE POLACCHE

(Polonia) - "Anche se qualcuno non era d'accordo con il presidente Lech Kaczynski non si poteva accusarlo di disonestà né di doppiezza": lo ha affermato domenica il presidente dell'Unione delle comunità ebraiche polacche Piotr Kadlcik ricordando una recente visita del presidente polacco nella sinagoga di Varsavia. Durante una cerimonia di commemorazione delle vittime di Smolensk, celebrata domenica nel tempio della capitale polacca, Kadlcik ha detto: "siamo qui per ricordare tutte le vittime. Non possiamo dimenticare le famiglie delle vittime di Katyn, i militari e i funzionari della sicurezza presidenziale che questa volta non sono stati in grado di difendere il capo di Stato, non possiamo dimenticare l'equipaggio dell'aereo". Il rabbino capo di Polonia Michael Schudrich parlando in sinagoga ha definito il presidente e la consorte "suoi amici". Al termine della cerimonia i rappresentanti delle comunità ebraiche polacche si sono recati al palazzo presidenziale per deporre, in mezzo a tanti altri polacchi, una corona di fiori bianchi e rossi con una stella di Davide blu. A bordo dell'aereo del presidente polacco in volo per Smolensk sabato scorso, giorno festivo per gli ebrei, non vi erano dei rappresentanti delle comunità ebraiche polacche che invece hanno preso parte alla commemorazione delle vittime di Katyn mercoledì scorso, svoltasi in presenza dei capi di governo polacco e russo.

(Poland) "Even if someone did not agree with Lech Kaczynski, he couldn’t be accused of any dishonesty or double-dealing": this was said last Sunday by the president of the Union of Polish Jewish Communities, Piotr Kadlcik, as he recalled a recent visit of the Polish president to the synagogues of Warsaw. During a ceremony for the repose of the souls of the victims of the Smolensk tragedy, celebrated in the temple of the Polish capital on Sunday, Kadlcik said: "we are here to commemorate all the victims. We cannot forget the families of the Katyn victims, the soldiers and the president’s security officers who this time have not been able to defend the head of State, we cannot forget the airplane crew". The head rabbi of Poland, Michael Schudrich, speaking in the synagogue, defined the president and his wife as “his friends". At the end of the ceremony, the leaders of the Polish Jewish Communities went to the president’s palace to lay, among so many other Poles, a wreath of white and red flowers with a blue Star of David. The Polish president’s airplane that was flying to Smolensk last Saturday, which is a holiday for the Jews, was not carrying any leader of the Polish Jewish communities, who took part instead in the commemoration of the Katyn victims last Wednesday, in the presence of the heads of the Polish and Russian governments.
