UKRAINE: 36,500 RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONS REGISTERED IN THE COUNTRY

(Sir Europe - Bratislava) - The religious network in Ukraine includes 55 religious currents represented by 36,500 religious organizations at the beginning of 2012. The Institute for Religious Freedom reports that 85 centers and 290 departments of religious associations, 35,013 religious communities (30,880 ministers), 471 monasteries (6,769 monks), 360 missions, 80 fraternities, 201 educational institutions (1,975 students) and 12,899 Sunday schools are registered in Ukraine. According to the official statistics published by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine for 2011, the number of religious institutions increases annually by 2%. Also rising is the quantity of established ecclesiastical mass media and communication facilities; currently their number is 390.
