HUNGARY: SPIRITUAL YOUTH DAY IN NAGYMAROS ON 19 MAY

(Sir Europe - Bratislava) - “Who guides you?” is the title of the 80th youth meeting sponsored by the Youth Commission of the Hungarian Bishops’ Conference which will take place on Saturday, 19 May, in Nagymaros. The event, which takes place twice a year, gives young Hungarian Catholics the chance to take part in a day of spirituality in the context of the new evangelisation. Levente Bokros, parish priest of Cegléd, invites young people to participate in the Mass celebrated by Card. Péter Erdõ, archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest and president of the Council of Bishops’ Conferences of Europe (CCEE). Following the speech by Bokros, young people will be able to put their questions to the speaker and hear an address by one of the founding fathers, Lajos Kerényi, about spiritual guidance. Participants will also be offered the opportunity to choose among different lectures on the Bible in small discussion groups. The main highlight of the meeting on the banks of the Danube River is the traditional Eucharistic Adoration in the parish church. Young people will be given the opportunity to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation in an atmosphere of great spirituality. Last but not least, there will be the “Gyerekmaros”, a spiritual day for the little ones. Some 800 children of five age groups are expected to participate in this event that has been organized since 1989 alongside the youth meeting in Nagymaros.
