st Yves society cremisanThe Society of St. Yves - Catholic Center for Human Right is working under the patronage
of the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem. It was founded in 1991 by the Latin Patriarch
of Jerusalem and the Holy Land, His Beatitude Emeritus Michel Sabbah, to help «the
poor and the oppressed» according to the social doctrine of the Catholic Church, and
was named after Saint Yves, patron Saint of lawyers and known as “Advocate of the
poor”.
St. Yves provides gratis legal assistance, counsel, awareness raising events and advocacy
to the fragmented members of the community. Today St. Yves manages some nine
hundred cases per year and assists around 2000 people.
St. Yves has represented the Salesian Nuns Convent before Israeli Courts in the
Cremisan case since 2010.
